get to know this weird product of the internet
kristie shoemaker is a twenty-five old fake scorpio who's moon in gemini births a celestial moodiness only a writer could survive. she was born outside baltimore, maryland and made the city her creative home base to work on a creative writing associate's degree and practice how to love sylvia plath without recreating her. she had poems of the alternative nature published in various online literary magazines such as voicemail poems, microscenes, metazen and the internet collective: internet poetry. feeling ready to try out a different and more expensive scene, she moved to new york city in 2014.
while living a city where her insomniac nature was celebrated, she wrote short stories and poems about things both real and not. she was a mediocre star on the independent literature circuit where she read her written words in front of various people at places such as the ever beloved brooklyn gem: mellow pages library.
when she wasn't performing at readings or supporting friends at readings, she was holed up in her apartment in lefferts garden, brooklyn furiously writing what would become her first full length poetry manuscript. she also kept the momentum going and found herself published in even more magazines, both online and in print such as: gesture mag, weu wei fashion mag, human parts, fruita pulp as well as LOVEbook 2014 and 'unsolicited advice from your ex-lover's ex-lover's' which were both published in print.
working odd jobs behind different receptionist desks, and answering phones despite a severe phone anxiety, kristie continued to write in her spare time. she would also take the occasional copy editing position, mostly for friends, but is ever hoping to expand that outside her top 8. she also worked at the union square barnes & noble in manhattan which not only surrounded her in what she loved, but gave some insight into what it takes to get published and organize publicity, which brings us to a little thing called twitter.
kristie has amassed a decent following of anonymous people finding her snarky and sarcastic 'deepest diary thoughts' fun to read. over 1,000 followers find her hilarious self hatred charming, and she has been recognized for the ability of her tweets to go viral.now after moving back home to baltimore to reconnect with her creativity, her ever-so-sweet mood swings, and a clear head; she is ready.
kristie has submitted a full length poetry manuscript to be published through independent press varsity goth. her first collection entitled 'do graves get wifi' will be tentatively released sometime in 2017. she is ready to expand her writing, learn and grow from others much better than her, and opportunities to work and move up through the literary community. she also helps run the social media/twitter for varsity goth press.

kristie is also non-ironically into art, especially involving signs, stars and crystals. positive and pure jewelry and sigils are her little comfort zone, and she will genuinely enjoy researching your birth chart. chances are, she already has.
